Candy C. Merrill



s a principal with Merrill Companies, Candy Merrill directs all marketing efforts for the firm and is actively involved in leasing for both office and retail projects. Previously the owner of a graphic design company, Ms. Merrill has extensive experience in real estate marketing, retail packaging design and corporate identity program development.

Prior to starting her design company, Merrill pursued a career in competitive synchronized swimming, which culminated with a gold medal in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

After retiring from Olympic competition, Ms. Merrill was active as a commentator for CBS and ESPN television networks covering national and international sporting events. During the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea, Merrill joined NBC as a color analyst for live coverage of the Synchronized Swimming events and also produced special interest features on participating athletes. During this period Merrill was also engaged by Fortune 500 Companies such as American Express and Coca-Cola for numerous public speaking engagements.

In 1985 Ms. Merrill was a co-founder of The Original Oatmeal Baking Company. Merrill was instrumental in forging partnerships with such companies as Oroweat Foods and Safeway to develop new lines of health-oriented bakery products. She directed and managed the marketing and product placement at the retail level. In 1994 Merrill created Desert Fish Design, a graphic design and product development company.

She joined Merrill Companies in 2000 initially supervising all marketing projects for Merrill developments in the Kansas City and Phoenix metropolitan areas. In 2002 she assumed senior leasing responsibilities for several of the firm's retail and office projects including the Prairiefire at LionsGate mixed use development. Ms. Merrill is a licensed Real Estate Agent in Kansas and a member of ICSC.
